About
Professor Dr. Orçun Toptaş is a specialist in oral, dental, and maxillofacial surgery and is among the most renowned academics in this field in Turkey. His strong academic background and extensive clinical experience allow him to offer patients modern, precise, and safe treatments, particularly in the areas of implantology and advanced oral surgery.
Throughout his career, he combined clinical practice, scientific research and university teaching, thus contributing to the training of many dental professionals and to the development of oral and maxillofacial surgery techniques.
Training
Professor Dr. Orçun Toptaş obtained his dental degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at Hacettepe University in 2005, one of Turkey’s most prestigious institutions in the medical and dental field.
He then pursued a doctorate in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery at Süleyman Demirel University, within the Institute of Health Sciences.
His doctoral thesis, defended on May 11, 2010 under the supervision of Professor Timuçin Baykul, focused on:
"Comparison of the presence of Ki67 and P53 proteins in the pericoronal tissues of completely impacted wisdom teeth in smokers and non-smokers."
This scientific research has deepened the understanding of the biological mechanisms associated with pathologies related to impacted wisdom teeth, demonstrating its commitment to research and innovation in oral surgery.
Academic career
Professor Dr. Orçun Toptaş has held several important academic positions in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Between 2010 and 2016, he worked as a research assistant at Süleyman Demirel University, in the Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Diseases and Surgery.
He was subsequently appointed Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry of Abant Izzet Baysal University, in the Department of Clinical Sciences and Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery.
In 2016, he was promoted to associate professor at Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University, continuing his teaching and research activities in the field of oral surgery.
Since November 21, 2022, he has held the position of professor at the Faculty of Dentistry of Istanbul Aydın University, within the department of clinical sciences specializing in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery.
