Smile Design, or digital smile design, is transforming the approach to aesthetic dentistry. This advanced technology lets you visualise your future smile before treatment even begins. Discover how this innovation transforms the patient experience and ensures predictable results.
Smile Design is a scientific and artistic approach to aesthetic dentistry. Using sophisticated computer-aided design software, we analyse the proportions of your face, the shape of your lips, your smile line and your teeth to create a tailor-made aesthetic project.
Unlike traditional methods where the final result was uncertain, Smile Design lets you see, validate and even adjust your future smile on screen before any clinical procedure. This complete transparency eliminates bad surprises and makes you an actor of your transformation.
A harmonious smile relies on several precise aesthetic criteria that Smile Design takes into account:
The smile line: The curve formed by the edge of the upper teeth must harmoniously follow the curve of the lower lip.
Tooth proportions: The central incisors must respect the golden ratio (1.618) in relation to the lateral incisors and the canines.
Facial symmetry: The midline between the incisors must align with the centre of the face and the median line.
Gum exposure: Ideally, 1 to 2 mm of gum are visible during a natural smile.
The buccal corridor: The dark space between the teeth and the cheeks must be balanced for a natural smile.
Everything starts with a professional photo session of your face from different angles: at rest, natural smile, wide smile, profile. Videos also capture your expressions and the way you speak. These elements are essential to understand the dynamics of your smile.
A latest-generation intraoral scanner takes a precise digital impression of your teeth and gums. This comfortable technology replaces traditional silicone impressions. The resulting 3D model is accurate to the hundredth of a millimetre.
Using specialised software (DSD, Exocad, 3Shape), our practitioners superimpose your photos and your 3D scan. They then virtually model your future teeth while respecting every aesthetic criterion. Several proposals can be created according to your preferences: natural smile, Hollywood Smile, longer or shorter teeth...
During a dedicated appointment, you discover your future smile on a large screen. The software shows you a realistic simulation integrated into your face. You can request modifications: whiter teeth, less voluminous, straighter... The project is refined until your complete validation.
Once the design is validated, a mock-up is manufactured in resin and placed directly on your teeth. You can try your new smile in real conditions: look at yourself in a mirror, observe yourself in photos and videos, and even keep it for a few days to gather the opinion of your relatives.
After validation of the mock-up, the digital file is sent to the prosthetics laboratory. The veneers, crowns or other restorations are manufactured with extreme precision thanks to computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM). The final result matches the validated project exactly.
Total predictability: You know exactly what you will get before starting.
Optimal communication: Patient and practitioner share the same vision of the result.
Maximum personalisation: Each smile is designed to measure according to your morphology.
Time saving: Adjustments are made upstream, reducing clinical touch-ups.
Peace of mind: The anxiety linked to the unknown disappears completely.
Smile Design applies to every aesthetic treatment: dental veneers, ceramic crowns, whitening, gum recontouring, orthodontics (aligners), and even full rehabilitations on implants. Whatever the scope of your project, this approach ensures a result that lives up to your expectations.
