A smile that is planned before it is transformed

The expression “Hollywood Smile” describes an overall aesthetic goal: harmonising the shade, shape, proportions, alignment and visibility of the teeth within the smile.

The Hollywood smile is not a single treatment. The practitioner compares the most conservative solutions and builds a project consistent with the shape of the face, the smile line and oral health.

  • A project suited to the face and the occlusion
  • Comparison of the options before treatment
  • A natural, well-proportioned and maintainable result is sought

The benefits

  • Aesthetic plan tailored to the face, the smile and dental health
  • Individual choice of shade, proportions and materials
  • Priority given to conservative solutions whenever possible
  • Mock-up or preview possible before certain irreversible treatments
  • Several aesthetic concerns can be addressed within a single plan
  • Number of treated teeth defined by the smile line and real indications
  • Whitening, orthodontics, composite and restorations combined only when necessary
  • Maintenance programme adapted to the treatments performed

Contraindications

  • Cavities, infection or active periodontal disease to treat before any aesthetic project
  • Insufficient hygiene or heavy smoking compromising the gums and the restorations

What the practitioner assesses

Condition of the enamel, the gums and the existing restorations

Alignment, occlusion, shade and dental proportions

Realistic aesthetic expectations and long-term maintenance

The treatment process

  1. Aesthetic, dental and gum assessment

Examination of the teeth and gums, X-rays when needed, photographs, analysis of the smile line, the occlusion, bruxism and existing restorations.

  2. Digital project and comparison of the options

The plan compares whitening, composite, orthodontics, veneers, crowns and the replacement of missing teeth. A mock-up can help visualise volumes and phonetics before any irreversible preparation.

  3. Preliminary care and conservative treatments

Cavities, gum inflammation and infections are treated first. Whitening, composite or orthodontics are used whenever they answer the need without covering teeth unnecessarily.

  4. Restorations or implants when indicated

Veneers or crowns are prepared and manufactured only for the teeth that require them. Implants concern missing teeth and follow their own healing timeline.

  5. Validation, placement and maintenance programme

Shade, shape, contacts and occlusion are checked before final placement. Follow-up includes interdental hygiene, check-ups, bruxism protection and maintenance or eventual replacement of the restorations.

Technology and materials

Digital Smile Design, photography and digital impression

Digital tools make communication and planning easier. They replace neither the clinical examination nor the adaptation of the project to the tissues and the occlusion.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Hollywood smile always require veneers?

No. Depending on the assessment, the plan may include whitening, orthodontics, composite, veneers, crowns or the replacement of missing teeth. The least invasive solution compatible with the objective is preferred.

Can the shape and the colour of the teeth be chosen?

The shape, the shade and the proportions are discussed during the planning stage, but the final choice must remain compatible with the tissues, the occlusion and a natural result.
